United Way and Atlanta Falcons huddle up for our community

This year's Hometown Huddle in Atlanta was unique, as the Falcons' entire active roster completed
community investment projects benefiting six United Way agencies. The Falcons also made six surprise
visits to local restaurants, elementary schools and other area attractions throughout the day.

On Tuesday, October 9, six buses of players and cheerleaders visited 12 locations. At each public stop,
players and cheerleaders visited with Falcons fans as an expression of appreciation for fan support.
At each United Way location, players and cheerleaders participated in a service project and left a
gift to commemorate the event. This year's United Way locations were Crossroads Community Ministries,
the 24/7 Gateway Homeless Services Center (shown in photos), Sheltering Arms Early Education and Family
Center, Rockbridge Elementary, Saint Joseph's Hospital and Challenged Child and Friends in Gainesville.
The Falcons also made surprise stops at the Georgia Aquarium, Georgia State University and a Chick-fil-A
restaurant, among other locations.

"The biggest thing we wanted to convey yesterday was to say thank you," quarterback Joey Harrington
said. "This is a tremendous town. Not only do I feel privileged to be a part of this team, but I feel
privileged to be a part of this city."

At the 24/7 Gateway Homeless Services Center, the Falcons sparked conversations and played several games
of checkers with men on the fourth floor. They also signed and gave away t-shirts and decorated a wall
in the TV area with Falcons stickers and signage. "The visit from the Atlanta Falcons was great,"
volunteer coordinator for the Gateway Center Lisa Ratliff said. "The players and clients hit it off
immediately. We played checkers and the clients shared their stories. Many clients now feel more valued
because the Falcons really listened to what they had to say."
The Falcons donated more than 300 towels to the center. This is one of the largest needs of the clients
at the center because they provide access to toilet and shower facilities for the clients.
