Food security, according to the 1996 World Food Summit, is defined as when all people have physical and economic access to sufficient safe and nutritious food that meets their dietary needs and food preferences for an active and healthy life. United Way of Greater Atlanta’s Child Well-Being Index data highlights a significant issue with food accessibility in South Fulton. Food accessibility is crucial for the well-being and health of residents, especially for families with children. Food Accessibility is defined as the percentage of housing units with limited access to a supermarket more than 1 mile away in urban areas.
