New YPL member Jessica Gibbs is a Elementary Math Specialist at SchoolKit Group with a passion for equitable education. Please extend her a warm welcome!

What inspired you to become involved with Young Professionals Leaders?

After completing United Way’s VIP program, I wanted an opportunity to serve the community and leverage the board leadership skills I learned. I was ultimately drawn to YPL’s community of like-minded young professionals who have a heart to serve, spirit to give, and desire to inspire a new generation of leaders & volunteers. It’s definitely been a great experience working alongside awesome people!

What aspect of United Way’s work in the community are you most passionate about supporting?

The aspect of United Way’s work I’m most passionate is the Building Strong Learner’s initiative. Working in Metro-Atlanta public schools, I’ve witnessed first hand just how many students struggle academically and the impact these challenges can have long-term on their educational journey and the overall trajectory of their lives. Increasing access to early learning provide students with more equitable educational experiences that can set them up for success when they enter in school.

Do you have fun fact or a side hustle (entrepreneurship) that you would like to share with us?

Fun fact about me: I am a classically trained dancer. In my teens and mid 20’s, I had the privilege of working for/with some of your favorite choreographers & pop singers 🙂
