What does United Way do?
United Way provides resources, information, and action. This means investing in health, housing, education, workforce development, and food accessibility to improve child well-being. We are working behind the scenes in communities throughout Greater Atlanta every day to improve the lives of children, families, and communities. United plays three key roles:
1
We’re analysts. Our research allows us to have a neighborhood-specific outlook on factors that determine child well-being, so we know what kind of issues are impacting Greater Atlantans.
2
We’re connectors. We bring donors, volunteers, companies, and other organizations together to address the issue.
3
We’re playmakers. We put everything into motion, whether that means funding a nonprofit partner that focuses on a specific issue or creating our own initiative to work towards a solution.
Your donation reaches children and families across our 13-county footprint.
This past year, real impact was acheived:
2,000
individuals have maintained stable housing after experiencing housing instability.
513
youth participating in academic and life mentoring advanced to the next grade level or graduated High School.
700
improved their economic stability by increasing their income through participation in financial programs.
3,157
residents improved their physical and mental health.
After an illness, a mom of two loses her job and is no longer able to make rent leading to an eviction and a move to what was supposed to be a temporary stint in an extended-stay motel. This scenario is all too familiar for the 25,000 Greater Atlanta families who struggle to escape the cycle of paying weekly motel rent while trying to make a deposit on a permanent place to live.
That’s why we created the Motel to Home Alliance, which would contact the family in need to provide housing assistance and financial stability.
Your donation takes our investments further.
