Become an IRS-trained Tax Preparer
United Way of Greater Atlanta, along with our VITA coalition, will be holding in-person certification trainings from December to January to equip volunteers with the necessary knowledge and skills to assist families and individuals with their tax preparation. Trainings are optional and will cover both basic and advanced tax law material to help volunteers pass the Basic and/or Advanced Tax Law Certification Test, which is required to volunteer as a tax preparer.
Volunteering is flexible, with both daytime and evening hours available, and you can choose from multiple locations based on your availability!
Other Volunteer Roles
If you’re unsure about your ability to assist with e-filing taxes but still want to volunteer, don’t worry — we still need your help! There are other roles at VITA locations that don’t require computer skills or passing the tax preparation course, like a greeter or intake specialist.
