Cierra Davis has always been ambitious—working hard for everything she has. And with each success, she made sure to invest in the success of others, as a longtime supporter of United Way. She never expected to be picking up the phone to call 211, our contact center that has served as a community lifeline since 1997.
But that’s just what happened when Cierra’s family circumstances changed and she became a full-time caregiver for her family, as a single mother. She was determined to create a stable home for her children despite the financial challenges she faced. After drawing on her savings, she realized she would need additional help to find a permanent place for her and her two children to call home.
That’s when she called 211. Confident in her ability to manage monthly expenses moving forward, she knew she needed a temporary boost to maintain her employment and pay a rental deposit on a new home for her family. And that’s just what 211 provided.
A 211 Community Connection Specialist answered the call for Cierra, making sure her first month’s rent payment of $1850 was covered and that she received furniture and mattresses to make her new house a home. This crucial assistance empowered Cierra’s family to move into permanent housing, marking the beginning of a new chapter in their lives.
With the support of United Way of Greater Atlanta, Cierra and her kids are now thriving. She shares, “it helped put me into the best position to be the best mom, and show my kids the stability that they deserve.”
