Legacy Leaders

Legacy Leaders honors all individuals who have donated to United Way of Greater Atlanta through a bequest, life income, or other planned gift. This ensures that future generations of Atlanta’s children will benefit from the resources, programming, partnerships, and generosity of our donors.

Benefits

Leave a Legacy

Through planned gifts, donors can leave a legacy behind after they pass. Whether leaving a bequest as a tribute to a family member or creating a legacy for themselves, donors benefit from planned gifts because they can make a lasting impact on a cause that’s important to them.

Secure the Tax Benefits

Take advantage of tax benefits through planned giving by donating appreciated assets such as stocks or real estate. This can help you avoid capital gains taxes while also providing a charitable deduction on your income tax return. By planning your giving, you can maximize your tax savings while supporting the causes that matter to you.

Determine How Your Gifts Are Spent

One of the main advantages of planned gifts is that donors have greater control over allocating their funds compared to most annual gifts. Planned gifts, such as a donor’s will, typically form part of a legal document. This allows the donor to specify, within certain limitations, how and where they would like their charitable contributions to be utilized.
