Introducing your 2025-26 African American Partnership Cabinet

Celebrating 25 years of AAP by helping students unlock their full potential
31 AAP leaders are committed to eliminating barriers and empowering students of color to become prepared for college and careers successes after high school.

United Way of Greater Atlanta’s African American Partnership (AAP) celebrates its 25th anniversary by welcoming the largest cabinet in its history, 31 professionals united by a goal of making the largest impact yet.

Over the past decade, AAP has focused its efforts on United Way of Greater Atlanta’s college preparation and career readiness programs, raising $1.5 million for the cause and helping 10,000 students take the next step toward their future. They hope to increase the amount raised to $2 million in the next two years—and the need is greater than ever.

By the year 2031, more than 70% of jobs will require some form of post-secondary education. However, research shows that students of color are disproportionately underrepresented in traditional college-to-career pipelines. AAP is committed to volunteering, mentoring, and donating to programs that help youth find fulfilling careers through training and apprenticeships, put college in reach, and unlock their earning potential.

This year’s cabinet is led by co-chairs Monique M. Carter, founder of The Carter Group, and Ricky McLeod of Comcast Business.

“I’ve had the pleasure of serving on the cabinet since 2018 and view this role as an opportunity to positively impact the neighborhoods and communities my three young daughters will grow up in,” said Ricky. “AAP has been a tangible way for me to positively support my community in the midst of so many challenges.”

Monique also looks forward to leading through AAP, noting that she hopes that the group will continue to grow and hopefully expand to a younger generation of members.

“Each day, we see too many of our boys and young men facing challenges that threaten their futures. Through AAP, we can ensure partner organizations have the resources and capacity to expand their reach—offering exposure, guidance, and support so that young people can envision the life they want and know there is someone walking the path with them,” she said.If you’d like to power the potential of students across Greater Atlanta, join AAP today and be a part of a like-minded community making a difference.
