Mary, a single mother of two boys aged 10 and 4, faced significant housing instability after being evicted in 2018. Her situation improved when she found Frontline Housing, a United Way of Greater Atlanta Motel to Home partner, through a Facebook resource group. Mary and her children qualified for assistance through the Kids Home program, an outreach and qualification method used by the Motel to Home Alliance. This program helps families secure housing when their children are identified as homeless by their school district.

Through the Kids Home program, Frontline Housing matched Mary with an apartment and covered a portion of her move-in fees. Mary and her sons have now been living in their new home for five months. Additionally, Mary enrolled in the Financial Achievement Club, where she attended six workshops and saved $600. She graduated from the program in July with $1,000 in her emergency savings. Mary credits the Financial Achievement Club with teaching her discipline and improving her financial literacy.

Mary is extremely thankful to Frontline Housing and United Way for their support. Her advice to others in similar situations is to keep looking for resources, not be afraid to ask for help, and consider furthering their education.
