How to Set Up a Fundraiser

Step 1: Fill Out a Short Form
Ready to get started? Click the “Get Started” button below, and a pop-up window will guide you through naming your fundraiser, selecting a display photo, setting a fundraising goal, writing a brief message, and choosing an end date. Don’t worry, you can always edit these details later!
Step 2: Verify Your Email
After submitting the basic information, you’ll see another pop-up window asking for your email. Enter it, and you’ll receive an email with a code. Just pop that code into the new window, and you’re all set!
Step 3: Launch Your Fundraiser
Once your email is verified, you’ll get another email with a link to your fundraiser. Share it with your friends and family via email or social media, and watch the donations roll in! You’ll also get a link to track your donations.
Example Cause Ask
As someone who’s lived in Greater Atlanta for over 30 years, I’ve witnessed significant changes in our community. One of the changes that has impacted me the most is the alarming rise in homelessness, with more families and individuals finding themselves without stable housing. I believe that every person deserves a safe place to call home, so I’m raising $1,000 for United Way of Greater Atlanta to help make this a reality.

Why should I start a fundraiser?
Starting a fundraiser allows you to actively contribute to the work United Way is doing in Greater Atlanta. It’s a powerful way to involve others in making a difference and to support initiatives that you care about.
Is there a fundraising goal I should aim for?
There’s no set goal—any amount you raise will make a meaningful impact. However, setting a goal can help motivate your network. Common goal amounts are $250, $500, and $1000. You can also choose a number with personal meaning or significance, e.g., $560 for your 56th birthday.
Will I get updates on how my fundraiser is helping?
Yes! We’ll inform you how your contributions make a difference in the community.
Who should I ask for donations?
You can ask anyone you feel comfortable talking to, including family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and social media followers. The nature of your relationship might determine how you ask them. For example, you might text or call a close friend with a direct ask but send an email to a group of coworkers.
How long should my fundraiser last?
Ideally, your fundraiser should last long enough for you to reach out to people more than once and give them time to learn more. A timeframe of 3-4 weeks is usually a good starting point, but you can extend that if your fundraising goal is higher or you want to give yourself plenty of time to spread the word.
