United Way of Greater Atlanta’s Young Professional Leaders (YPL) wraps holiday gifts for a toy drive

The Young Professional Leaders (YPL), a group of emerging professionals dedicated to empowering young learners, embodied this spirit of generosity at their first annual holiday toy drive.

YPL Board Members Dominque Moore and Earnest Johnson organized the drive in partnership with Sheltering Arms, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing high-quality early childhood education and family support services in Atlanta.

The toy drive delivered gifts to children and families, allowing them all the chance to experience the magic and excitement of the holiday season regardless of financial background.

An accompanying gift card drive made it possible for adult older siblings to take part as well.

“A man who needed help came in this morning. He doesn’t have a child that attends our center, but he has a 9-year-old sister,” said Nas Green, the manager of events and volunteers at Sheltering Arms. “He was looking for help with food and gas. I was able to give him the gift card you gave us and a gift for his sister. Your support goes beyond our centers, and we are extremely grateful for YPL.”

The toy drive collected 300 toys, ranging from educational games and books to dolls and action figures, ensuring that there was something special for every child. YPL members wrapped the toys at their holiday reception.

The impact of this toy drive goes beyond just the toys themselves. It represents a community coming together, because we know that a thriving community begins with supporting our youngest members. And what better way to see that impact firsthand than the smiles on the children’s faces when receiving their gifts?
