Bloom the Block supports the women who help our communities bloom
Taquana loves hosting her family members, but that’s hard to do without a stable home. United Way of Greater Atlanta helped her family move from a motel into a house with a large kitchen for hosting and a guest room for her grandkids.
Beth would do whatever she could to help her son Neal Dean learn to read and thrive in school. She worked with literacy specialists through our Literacy and Justice for All program to help advocate for her child’s education and get him the individualized lessons he needs.
Rossana wasn’t sure her employer was calculating her taxes correctly, and, as a new American, she didn’t know where to turn for help. Through our VITA program, she received the refund her family deserved, so she could invest it into job training and support for her son.

What is Bloom the Block?
Bloom the Block is a United Way of Greater Atlanta campaign celebrating the women who uplift our communities. When you purchase a flower yard sign or virtual bouquet, you honor someone special while supporting families across Greater Atlanta.
When can I buy a sign?
You can purchase a sign from April 1 to May 10! To receive your sign before Mother’s Day, please order by May 1.
How will the recipient receive the sign?
At checkout you can enter either your address or the recipient’s address. Signs are shipped via USPS to the designated location.
How does my purchase help?
Each Bloom the Block purchase supports United Way of Greater Atlanta’s efforts to improve the well-being families across 13 counties by expanding access to education, financial stability, job training, and essential services.
How do I recycle my sign?
All yard signs and stakes can be recycled at The Center for Hard to Recycle Materials (CHaRM) in Atlanta, or check with your local recycling program.
I don’t want a yard sign, but I want to support the cause!
You can send a virtual flower or make a donation to United Way of Greater Atlanta to support women and families across Greater Atlanta.
Is my purchase tax deductible?
Each sign has a fair‑market value of $10. That means any amount you pay above $10 per sign is tax‑deductible. Because we offer discounted bundles to make purchasing multiple signs easier, the deductible portion changes slightly based on the price tier:
- $30 sign: $20 of your purchase is tax‑deductible.
- 4 for $100 ($25 each): $15 per sign is tax‑deductible.
- 10 for $200 ($20 each): $10 per sign is tax‑deductible.
And great news—virtual cards and online‑only donations are fully tax‑deductible.
How far do you ship?
We ship anywhere in the Greater Atlanta region within these counties: Butts, Cherokee, Clayton, Cobb, Coweta, DeKalb, Douglas, Fayette, Fulton, Gwinnett, Henry, Paulding, Rockdale. The cost of shipping is included in your sign purchase.
